After getting a steam pot ready these were rolled with a little bit of scallion whites, lemon zest, paprika, salt and pepper. Steam time was 10 minutes.  The protein: After preheating the oven to 425 degrees the chicken was prepped and then roasted for 17 minutes and broiled for 3.  Extras: I omitted the gluten products from this recipe and did not replace the panko with gluten-free breadcrumbs instead I just used parmesan, sourcre...

Reviewing: Pork bulgogi meatballs with carrots & zucchini over rice  1 serving prepared - heavily modified  Here's what you get: Zucchini Ground pork Sesame oil Sriracha Scallions Shredded carrot Jasmine rice Sesame seeds Extras: Homemade bulgogi sauce  GF pretzel crumbs  Honey  Tamari Not pictured/used: Bulgogi sauce Panko bread crumbs Ginger (I didn't receive any) Lime     (I didn't receive any) The rice: This went on first. I cooked 1/4 cup of dry rice in 1/2 cup of water with avocado oil and rice vinegar for 15 minutes. The protein: The meatballs were prepared a few hours before dinner.  I had to substitute with my own bulgogi sauce and gf pretzel crumbs in place of the panko. These were mixed and set to rest in the fridge. The bulgogi sauce is the same as a previous recipe I made with the addition of pear. Check this out:  the Colonel's original recipe Total cook time on the meatballs was 12...

Reviewing: Chicken katsu with roasted green beans and ginger rice 1 Serving prepared  Here's what you get: Ginger (not pictured/used) Green bean Garlic powder Cornstarch Katsu sauce (not pictured/used) Jasmine rice Chicken cutlets Panko bread crumbs (not pictured/used) Sour cream Sesame seed Substitutes: Home made GF katsu sauce Glutino GF pretzel sticks, processed to make crumb coating. The rice: This was a reheat of yesterday's leftover rice.  I was unable to use the ginger provided as it arrived squishy and unusable. To substitute I used ginger paste I have on hand.  The protein: The chicken was baked instead of fried to reduce oil use. I prepped tje same way the recipe suggested, then baked 400 degrees for 18 mins. The greenbeans: These were cooked in the cast iron pan with 1/2 tsp butter instead of roasting. Total cook time was 8 mins. The sauce: I had to substitute the katsu sauce that came with the kit as I have to omit gluten products. Since I ha...

Reviewing: Spicy Maple chicken with mashed sweet potatoes & roasted green beans 1 serving prepared   Here's what you get: Sweet potato  Panko brand crumb (not used) Sour cream  Maple syrup  Chicken breast  Fry easoning  Green bean  Chili flake Substitution: Parmesan  The sweet potatoes: I steamed mine over high heat for 10 minutes before mashing. This eliminates the need for additional salt and the potatoes don't lose thier flavor. The protein: The panko wasn't used so this went fairly quick. The parmesan mixes well with the fry seasoning. I  didn't add any additional salt like the instructions call for because cheese was used. The cut of chicken cooks quickly as well since it is a smaller portion than store packaged meats. The green beans: I should have steamed these as well, in my smaller oven they tend to go extra wrinkly even with the short cooking time. The sauce: This didn't take much effort you just put some of the ...

Reviewing: BBQ pork & apple meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes & roasted green beans Here's what you get: Classic BBQ sauce  Fry seasoning  Apple  Yukon Gold potato  Ground pork  Ancho chili powder  Green beans  Sour cream  Garlic  Not pictured: Panko bread crumbs (not used) Parsley Parmesan  The potatoes: This was easy, just boil and complete as the recipe directs. I added some chopped curled parsley to mine. The protein: 5 oz of the ground pork and half of the apple was used. There's a tip on the back of the card about using cheesecloth to get the extra moisture out of the Apple. I used a small sugar duster and pressed with a spoon, pictured below. Other than this change the meatloaf prep went smoothly. To eliminate gluten product I omitted the Panko crumbs and substituted 1 tbsp parmesan. Total cook time was 25 mins. The entire meal was complete by this time as well.  The Greenbeans: These w...

Reviewing:   Crispy Buffalo spice chicken with blue cheese sauce, sour cream 'n' chive mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. 1 serving prepared One modification was made to eliminate gluten. This recipe is largely oven based making it perfect if you have other tasks to complete. The recipe can be found on the Hellofresh website.  Here's what you get: Yukon Gold potatoes  Carrots  Chives  Fry seasoning  Sour cream  Chicken cutlet  Panko bread crumbs (not used) **1/4 cup parmesan substituted  Frank's RedHot original seasoning blend Blue cheese dressing  Cholula hot sauce The potatoes: These were super easy to put together, I made them smoother than the picture suggested I ended up boiling and waiting until everything else was nearly done to finish them. Out of all the prep this took the most time to complete. The protein: Since I can't have panko, parmesan became the breading substitute. I didn't need to use butter for the...
