Reviewing: Firecracker meatballs with roasted green bean & sesame rice  2 servings prepared  Here's what you get: Scallion  Ginger  Mayonnaise  Sour cream  Honey  Sriracha  Korean chili flakes  Sesame seed  Ground beef  Jasmine rice  Green beans  Not used: Panko bread crumb  Soy sauce  Substitutes: gluten-free bread crumb  tamari sauce The rice: This was prepared first I only cooked 1 quarter cup with 1/2 cup rice for 15 minutes and then continued preparation per the recipe. The protein: These are easy to put together just combine the breadcrumb, ginger, scallion, tamari sauce, salt and pepper. Then form into meatballs, these will be cooked in the oven along with the green beans. The greenbeans: To prep the green bean I added avocado oil, salt, pepper and some of the Korean chili flakes. Reviewing: Honey butter BBQ pork cutlets with mashed sweet potatoes & Lemony green beans 1 serving prepared  Here's what you get: Sweet potato  Honey  Sweet and Smoky BBQ seasoning  Sour cream  Lemon  Pork cutlet  Green beans  Chili flake  Extras: Butter The honey butter: I made this first by slightly heating the butter and adding honey. This was placed in the fridge while the rest of the food was being prepared. The mashed sweet potatoes: I steamed the sweet potatoes for 15 minutes before mashing. These are easy to do you just add the sour cream and mix it well to finish it off. The protein: After seasoning the cutlets and heating up a nonstick skillet I cooked the cutlets for 3 minutes per side and then removed from the heat to rest The greenbeans: The green beans went into the same steamer basket used for the sweet potatoes and were left there for four minutes so they were cooked but still crunchy. The plate: O...

Porkchop with balsamic onion shallot mix, green beans & sweet potato

Making: Porkchop with balsamic onions,  green beans & sweet potato 1 serving prepared  Here's what I have: 4 oz Pork chop  1 medium sized Sweet potato  1.5 oz Balsamic vinegar  Steak seasoning  1/4 cup White onion  1 small Shallot  1/2 cup Green Bean  1 tbsp Bacon butter Preparation: After preheating the oven to 425 I rolled sweet potatoes in avocado oil and a little bit of salt. These went in for 25 minutes. The pork chop is prepared by coating in steak spice and a little bit of salt. About 10 minutes into the potatoes being in the oven I started the green beans by heating up a nonstick pan using a small portion of the bacon butterand steak spice to cook them. After the green beans were done the pork chop was cooked (high heat) with a dab of bacon butter in the same pan for 4 minutes each side and set to rest. While the pork chop was resting I used the remaining bacon butter to brown the onions. This took about 4 minutes a...

Reviewing: Steakhouse pork chops with a creamy shallot pan sauce & Lemony green beans 1 serving prepared  Here's what you get: Yukon Gold potato  Lemon  Pork chop  Beef stock concentrate  Shallot  Sour cream  Bold and savory steak spice  Green beans The potatoes: As usual these are and easy prep and cook so they were started first and the rest of the meal was prepared while they were boiling. No salt was added during cooking. The protein: The only thing you have to do here is coated with the seasoning and then pan-fry it. Cook time was 10 minutes with a five minute rest period. The green beans: These were steamed (8 mins) and instead of adding butter, sat and pepper during the finishing portion I mixed it with lemon juice and zest. The sauce: Preparing the sauce is very similar to doing the balsamic sauces. Instead of vinegar you add the sour cream after reducing. The plate: Because I didn't add any salt to the pot...

Reviewing:  Amazing apricot chicken with roasted potatoes and green beans 1 serving prepared Here's what you get: Yukon Gold potato Shallot Thyme Apricot jam Green beans Chicken breast Balsamic vinegar Chicken stock concentrate The potatoes: These went into the oven first after dicing and getting a drizzle of oil, salt and pepper.  The protein: The chicken was cooked in the cast iron pan for 14 minutes total flipping halfway through and set to the side. The green beans: I decided to cook these in the cast iron after the chicken was done. The inductions say to roast with the potatoes but I don't like how they shrivel up in the oven. It's also a good way to get some of the leftover seasoning from the chicken without adding more salt to the dish. The sauce: I prepared this in a small saucepan after the shallots are cooked this goes pretty quickly. The plate: This was the second time I've had this meal so I like it already. There's a variati...

Reviewing: Spicy Maple chicken with mashed sweet potatoes & roasted green beans 1 serving prepared   Here's what you get: Sweet potato  Panko brand crumb (not used) Sour cream  Maple syrup  Chicken breast  Fry easoning  Green bean  Chili flake Substitution: Parmesan  The sweet potatoes: I steamed mine over high heat for 10 minutes before mashing. This eliminates the need for additional salt and the potatoes don't lose thier flavor. The protein: The panko wasn't used so this went fairly quick. The parmesan mixes well with the fry seasoning. I  didn't add any additional salt like the instructions call for because cheese was used. The cut of chicken cooks quickly as well since it is a smaller portion than store packaged meats. The green beans: I should have steamed these as well, in my smaller oven they tend to go extra wrinkly even with the short cooking time. The sauce: This didn't take much effort you just put some of the ...

Reviewing: BBQ pork & apple meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes & roasted green beans Here's what you get: Classic BBQ sauce  Fry seasoning  Apple  Yukon Gold potato  Ground pork  Ancho chili powder  Green beans  Sour cream  Garlic  Not pictured: Panko bread crumbs (not used) Parsley Parmesan  The potatoes: This was easy, just boil and complete as the recipe directs. I added some chopped curled parsley to mine. The protein: 5 oz of the ground pork and half of the apple was used. There's a tip on the back of the card about using cheesecloth to get the extra moisture out of the Apple. I used a small sugar duster and pressed with a spoon, pictured below. Other than this change the meatloaf prep went smoothly. To eliminate gluten product I omitted the Panko crumbs and substituted 1 tbsp parmesan. Total cook time was 25 mins. The entire meal was complete by this time as well.  The Greenbeans: These w...

Reviewing: Amazing Apricot chicken  1 serving prepared  Here's what you get: Oops, I forgot this in the ingredients pic... Chicken breast  Green beans  Apricot jam  Balsamic vinegar  Chicken stock Thyme  Not used: Jasmine rice  Substitutes: 1/2 cup Carrots  1 oz veggie broth  The greenbeans: Like most HF veggie preparation this was straightforward. You just roast them at 425 for 12-15 minutes. The protein: The chicken was an easy cook since the cut is not too thick it took me about 11 minutes cook time, around 5 minutes rest time Cartots!: I substituted carrots for the rice because they would cook quicker and I've had enough rice heavy meals lately. These were cooked in a small saucepan with one ounce of veggie broth  The sauce: The sauce was quick, since you get all of the ingredients you just have to cut the shallot combine everything in the pan after the chicken is done and reduce it a little. The plat...

Reviewing: Balsamic Pork with roasted green beans and rosemary potatoes. Serves 2 Here's what you get: Shallot  Yukon Gold potatoes  Green beans  Chicken stock concentrate  Rosemary  Pork tenderloin  Fig Jam  Balsamic vinegar This recipe is largely oven based which is nice if you have a day where you need to multitask. Like the first recipe from this box ingredients were pre-prepped and only one serving was prepared for this recipe. You can find the original recipe on the Hellofresh website. The potatoes:  While all of the potatoes were cut right out of the box I only used about a cup for tonight's dinner. Cooking is fairly easy you just pre-heat your oven,  get them prepared and put them in for the allotted time. I prepped and cooked the potatoes with a bit of shallots until mostly done in a cast iron skillet and removed them to continue on to the next step. *The rest of the prepped potatoes are refrigerated in water to be used ...
